Uniform and Fees

Uniform

The tradition is that the Guides can choose what they wear, and there are several different versions of the Guide uniform. For this reason we have set a standard at 1st Wheathampstead Guides that all our Guides wear the same uniform: Guide polo shirt, Guide hoodie and smart black trousers (NO LEGGINGS OR JEANS). Your daughter can wear her Brownie uniform until the night she gets enrolled, if transferring from Brownies, when we will have an enrolment ceremony. If your daughter has not attended Brownies, we would ask that she wear dark coloured clothing until her enrolment.

For convenience we have provided links above to these items on the Girlguiding Online Shop. The Guide hoodie and polo top can also be bought from the Guide Depot at Harpenden & Redbourn Division HQ, Townsend Lane, Harpenden AL5 2RN, which is open on Monday evenings between 5.00pm and 6.30pm (term time only). Further details of the Harpenden & Redbourn Division Guide Depot are available here. Any items bought through the Depot bring revenue to our Guide unit.

Unit Charges

Our unit charges are subs of £30 per term. These should be paid on the first night of each term. These cover the cost of the equipment and the hire of the meeting hall. There is also an annual subscription (which is included in these subs) which is paid to cover the day to day running of the Guide Association.

Any questions you have regarding the fees please feel free to discuss with Sooze.

For events like camps, holidays or days out, there would be additional charges. Our aim is to offer the girls different opportunities. We as leaders are also parents so we are fully aware of all the additional costs that occur when your daughter takes up different clubs and groups. Our aim is to organise various fund raising activities throughout the year, so that we can use the funds raised to subsidise these activities.
